Questions
How the vote works, where the numbers come from, and what this site is and isn't.
How does the vote work?
Pick Jordan or LeBron on the Vote page. One vote per person; you can change it as many times as you like and only your latest choice counts. The running percentages show on the Results page and on the jumbotron inside the arena. Votes are not weighted and there is no closing date.
Can I vote more than once?
You can change your vote, but you can't stack votes. Each person is counted once, using an anonymous identifier. Automated or duplicated votes are removed.
Where do the statistics come from?
Career figures come from the NBA's official records and Basketball-Reference. LeBron James is still active, so his totals change; every page that uses them says which season the numbers run through, and we update them each offseason.
Why isn't Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Bird or Kobe on the ballot?
Because the public argument, for the last fifteen years or so, has mostly come down to these two. That's a reflection of the debate, not a judgment on anyone else's career. We may add a 'the field' option in future.
Who runs this site?
See the About page. It's an independent fan site, not affiliated with the NBA, either player, or any team.
Why does the site look like an arena?
Because arguing about basketball should feel like being at a basketball game. The 3D arena runs in your browser; it needs a reasonably modern browser and works best on a desktop or laptop. On phones it runs with fewer effects.
The arena is running slowly. What can I do?
Close other tabs, make sure your browser is up to date, and if your laptop has a power-saving mode, turn it off. If it's still slow, the text content of every page is available without the 3D view.
How are the ads chosen?
Display advertising is served by Google AdSense and chosen by Google based on the page and, if you've allowed it, your browsing history. In-arena sponsor placements are sold directly. All ads are labelled. See the privacy policy.
Can I write for the site?
Yes. Send a pitch through the contact page: a title, a one-paragraph summary, and the argument you want to make. We publish reader essays with full credit.
I found a mistake.
